Introduction:

If you have a cat as your pet you have surely marked discharges from different parts of its body. Such discharges are natural and surely you are not worried at the sight of these. Still you cannot rest assured thinking that there is nothing to be worried of. The discharges from ears, eyes or nose of your cat should be seriously taken as they may be caused by Upper respiratory diseases. You should take your cat to the vet in such cases and he will ask you to charge antibiotics in most of the cases.

Let me submit a few lines on the discharges of the cat as they, at times, point to the sickness of this small and wonderful creature that has been befriended and domesticated by all of us.

The four kinds of cat discharges:
a) Cat ears discharges
b) Cat eyes discharges
c) Cat nasal discharges and
d) Cat vaginal discharges

Cat Ears Discharge:

Do you try to clean the ears or the accessible part of the ear-canals of the ears of your cat ? If you have been doing this regularly you must have noticed ear wax of your cat. The quantity of such wax may be less  and even more. Up to this extent everything is normal because ear wax, usually of light brown color, should not even be considered as discharges.

Have you ever tried to feel the odor of the ear-canal of your cat ? You may have. Sometimes a very bad smell you will find. A thin line of water-like discharges you may mark. Do you know how this has happened ? Your cat is famous for its nails and it has the habit of scratching. Due to repeated and forceful scratching your cat has injured some delicate tissues inside the ear-canal. If you do not take care and dress it and nurse it with simple medicine the infection may turn serious.

But if you find the liquid material oozing out from inside the ears of your cat has a red or black color or if it is something like yellow or green pus, it is time to take your cat to the vet. Medicinal effect will solve the problem. Still I must say that regular cleaning of the ear-canal will always reduce your anxiety.

Cat eyes discharges:

Discharge from the eyes of your cat does not indicate that your cat is sick. It is rather sign of its good health as in case of a healthy cat in a sleep discharges from the eyes are common and normal. But a cat scratches at its eyes when it  feels bored or when it does not find comforts and in such way causes injury to the eyes. You must take care if the eye discharges of your cat show gray, yellow or green color. At this point you must take your cat to the vet because this is definitely an infection.

Cat nasal discharges:

A nasal discharge of your cat is a thing that must be taken seriously always. It is an infection of course. Your cat may have enhanced body temperature, that means, it may have had fever, generally a viral one, and you can test the temperature with the help of a thermometer. This may have its origin in some tooth infection also. The most frightening one is the growth of a tumor inside the nasal cavity which may point to cancer. In such a case the vet will move for a radiation therapy finally and your cat may live for a  few  more years.

Cat Vaginal Discharge:

Red, yellow or white discharges from the vagina of your cat will indicate the feline pyometra. This is feline hormonal problem. You must meet your vet and try to cure your pet as per his advice.
